Musikalisch bleiben sich Twenty One Pilots treu, heisst, sie berühren auch auf "Trench" allerlei Genres und mischen diese zu guten Songs. Mal Rap, mal Rock, mal Pop, mal Indie/Alternative... insgesamt gibt es hier viel Abwechslung, trotzdem ist es sehr kohäsiv und doch fehlt gleichzeitig bei vielen Songs ein gewisses Etwas. So richtig zünden will hier nichts, auch wenn Songs wie "Jumpsuit", "Chlorine" oder "Bandito" überdurchschnittlich gut sind. In etwa so stellte ich mir ihr Comeback vor.<br><br>Auch wenn ich nachvollziehen kann weshalb, finde ich es trotzdem schade, dass "Trench" abgesehen von der Debut-Woche ein Flop zu sein scheint.
