...was ist schwarz und fliegt in einem Ganzkörperkondom durch die Gegend? Richtig! Batman. Um den ersten Film gab es dazumal ja einen Mega-Hype - und was war dran? Nichts, genausowenig wie an dem Titelsong von Prince. Wie konnte der bloss die Poleposition erreichen? Einer der schlechteren Songs von Prince. Nervt.

Muss mich korrigieren. Das Teil hat 20 Jahre auf dem Buckel und hat nichts an Genialität eingebüsst. Entfaltet aber seine volle Wirkung v.a. zusammen mit dem Video. Stop the press - who’s that - Vicky Vale - und dann gleich zu fünft. Hat man Worte dafür? Der Song ist ein Gesample par excellence, ohne Lyrics, aber in seiner wilden Komposition einfach nur Kunst - this is pure art! Ich bin selten wirklich Prince-Fan, aber hier … awesome! Glücklicherweise war Jack Nicholson ein Prince-Fan zu dieser Zeit und hat ihn bei Tim Burton für den Soundtrack vorgeschlagen. Eine bessere Übereinstimmung zwischen freaky Burton und funky Prince gab’s nie. Das Album wurde nur innerhalb rund 1 Woche zusammengestellt - und dann Päng - Number 1 - one step ahead of everyone. Die Choreographie im Video kam von Paula Abdul.

--> "Batman" war mit dem Titelsong zusammen ein perfektes Marketing-Konzept - weltweit! Deshalb ging die Rechnung auch in der Hitparade auf, trotz der Tatsache, dass das Teil nicht viel mit Kommerz zu tun hat.

War ja seinerzeit eine immens wirkungsvolle Marketing-Symbiose - hier der schon im Vorfeld unglaublich gehypte erste Batman-Streifen, dort der Soundtrack des unbestrittenen Musikgenies!
Konnte damals mit dieser Single nix anfangen, heute seh ich darin doch gewisse Ansätze, würd´ mir das Teil aber, natürlich auch wegen der Überlänge, nicht freiwillig öfters geben ...

Toen ik deze plaat voor het eerst hoorde, dacht ik ''wat heeft Prince NU gemaakt''???????

Dit is een nummer waarvan je de achtergrond moet weten en je moet hem vaker gehoord hebben. Het nummer bestaat uit samples met stukjes tekst uit de film ''Batman'' (waarin Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson en Kim Basinger de hoofdrol spelen). Bovendien heeft Prince het verhaal van de film op zijn eigenzinnige manier vertaald naar een origineel nummer!!!! Ik vind dit toch wel een klassieker, want de samples zijn op perfecte wijze ingekleed in dit nummer. Daar moet je een meester voor zijn en dat kan Prince als geen ander !!!!!!!
